"I have been fortunate to have taken multiple workshops with Steve over the past twenty years and have always left with a new vision of what I could accomplish." -FS Fenyvessy, San Antonio, Tex.
New York Street Photography Workshop
This 3-day workshop is packed with hands-on learning as well as classroom time. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, Steve will help you capture the types of photographs you are aiming for and give you an inspiration boost to practice new techniques.
The workshop will combine elements of street, documentary and travel photography, with an emphasis on producing creative images which reflect real life in New York City, the melting pot of the world. Steve's teaching method is designed to help you develop your own style as a photographer, become invisible and photograph your environment quietly and unobtrusively, and overcome your fear of photographing strangers.
Steve will accompany you during the three days of street time. We will explore three distinct neighborhoods. Depending on what is happening on any given day these may include SOHO, Greenwich Village, Bowery, Tribeca, Chinatown, Hell's Kitchen, or Harlem.
In the evenings, students may join Steve for dinner or fall into bed from exhaustion.

We will be staying at the SoHo 54 Hotel, near Washington Square Park and the Canal Street Station (Varick Street). The hotel is where all of our class meetings will take place, including image critiques. It is highly recommended that for you to get the most from the workshop experience you stay with everyone else at the hotel.
I have reserved a single room for you from October 7 to 11, should you wish to stay at the hotel. Alternately, you may make your own arrangements to stay elsewhere, but you must let me know at least 15 days prior to the workshop so that I can cancel your reservation.
Participants make their own travel arrangements to and from New York. Once the trip is confirmed, additional information and travel details will be provided. During the workshop we will rely upon the subway, buses, and shoe leather. Students are responsible for transportation fees during the workshop.
We will meet each morning at the SoHo 54 Hotel. A block of rooms has been reserved for the workshop. Alternately you may make your own arrangements to stay elsewhere.
Students will be responsible to be present at the start time. We will stay in touch via cell phone so that should you miss a meeting place you can catch up with the group.
Students are responsible for their own meals. Each day Steve will chose a place for lunch and dinner. Students may chose to eat at an alternate location and meet up with the group later.
All participants must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination is required. Masks may be required depending on current CDC guidelines.
