The Kwilt Shoebox Plus is designed to create your own personal cloud device anywhere in the world you have internet access. It can even be used in Cuba where wi-fi is a touch and go proposition. Of course, in Cuba you must have the touch in order to go.
The Shoebox works like Dropbox. But, instead of a Dropbox you create a Shoebox on your thumb drive or external hard drive. It has USB ports for up to any combination of 4 hard drives or thumb drives. You don’t take the Kwilt with you. Once you set it up you’ll have access to virtually unlimited photos and documents while you're half a world away.
But it goes even further than that. The Kwilt is designed to easily access both an iPhone, iPad, or Android device. You can either Copy or Move your images to your Shoebox. If you move them, you can also delete them from the source device. But, and here’s the great thing about the Kwilt, the source device will always be able to access the Shoebox. That means you can still view and even share your images on your cell phone, but they’re not stored on your cell phone, freeing up your phone and allowing it to work more efficiently.
Fritz Fenyvessy is a highly accomplished photographer that travels with me quite often. Fritz doesn’t like to be encumbered with a laptop, so he transfers his images from both his iPhone and Fujifilm camera to an iPad and edits them using a panoply of iPhone apps. Using the Kwilt would allow him to transfer the images to the remote Shoebox and still have access to all his images, just as if they were in Dropbox, without paying for the extra Dropbox storage.
And that’s another benefit of using the Kwilt Shoebox – once you own it you never pay a monthly storage fee. Yes, you do have to purchase external HDs that you leave plugged in to the Kwilt. But the upside is that your personal images and documents are only accessible by you. The corporate gorillas that own the Cloud, Google, Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft can’t get in. You’ll never have to worry about Bill Gates getting a chuckle from that photo of you … well, you know which one I’m talking about.
I’ve arranged with Kwilt for anyone on my mailing list to receive $20 off a Shoebox Plus. If you’re on my mailing list already, keep a lookout for a discount code in my next e-blast. If you’re not on my mailing list and would like to take advantage of this offer, go to my site and register. You’ll receive the promo code with your welcome notice. The offer is only good for the first 20 to respond so if you think you might like to own your own personal cloud act fast.
This is the first of what I hope to be many special offers made available to anyone registered on my site.
