We Were There
We were there on December 17, 2014 when President Obama and Raul pledged that they would work to ease the trade and travel restrictions between our two countries.
We were there in December 2015 when it was announced there would be a normalization of mail service between our two countries.
We were there on Monday, March 21 when President Obama visited Cuba. The first sitting President in more than eighty years. The President appeared on Cuban national television in front of a live audience of business people eager to normalize relations with the U.S. and looking to him for hope.
We were there on Friday, March 25, when the Rolling Stones performed one of the first rock-and-roll concerts ever allowed in Cuba. 500,000 people were estimated to be at the Ciudad Deportiva de la Habana, a massive sports complex that hosts baseball, football and other events. The stadium was built to hold 400,000 people. The sound system was amazing and the giant screens could be seen from across the stadium. The Cubans went wild when Mick Jagger spoke in Spanish.
We will be traveling again from December 9 to 17, cameras at the ready.
